Southern Region records, 1939-1976.

The collection consists of records of the Southern Region of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) from 1939-1976. Includes correspondence, National War Labor Board and National Labor Relations Board case files, employer case files, financial documents, minutes, and printed materials relating to the union's organizing efforts in the South and Southwest. Correspondence is primarily among four southern region directors: Clyde Mills (1939), Bernard Borah (1939-1940), Harry Haberthear (1946-1955), Edward Blair (1956-1974) and ACWA vice-president Gladys Dickason. A significant portion of the employer case files concern the Farah Corporation (El Paso, Tx.), the T.I.L. Sportswear Co. (Aberdeen, Ms.), and the Dixie Manufacturing Co.
